Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains how AK Glow (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website, akglow.co.uk, and our AK Glow mobile app for iPhone. We are the data controller for the information described here. We handle your information in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are and how to contact us

AK Glow is a UK online beauty and self-care shop. For any privacy question or to use your rights, email AKGlow01@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp Business on 07510 527405.

The information we collect

  • Order details: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number (if you give one), the items you order and any note you add to your order.
  • Account details (website only): if you create an account, your name, email address and password (stored securely, never in plain text) and your order history.
  • Payment information: payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe, and by Apple Pay, Klarna and Clearpay where offered. Your full card number and security code go directly to the payment provider. We never see or store them. We receive confirmation that the payment succeeded, the last four digits and card type.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email or WhatsApp, such as questions about an order.
  • Technical information: basic data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited on the website, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies” below).

Our mobile app

The AK Glow app shows the same products, prices and stock as our website and uses the same secure shop systems. In the app:

  • You can browse, search and check out as a guest. You do not need an account.
  • The app stores a basket identifier on your device so your basket is still there when you come back. It contains no personal details and is removed if you delete the app.
  • When you check out, the name, address, email and phone number you enter are sent securely (HTTPS) to our shop and to our payment provider to process your order, exactly as on the website.
  • The app does not use advertising identifiers, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not contain third-party analytics or advertising tools.
  • The app does not access your contacts, photos, location or microphone. If you pay with Apple Pay, Apple shares your chosen payment card, name, email, phone number and address with us to complete the order; we never see your card number.

How and why we use your information

  • To fulfil your order (taking payment, packing and delivering it, sending order updates and receipts, handling returns and refunds). Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
  • To answer your questions and give support. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in running our business and helping customers.
  • To keep records required for tax and accounting. Legal basis: legal obligation.
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website and app secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
  • To measure and improve our website and to show relevant adverts, but only where you have agreed to analytics or advertising cookies. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To send you marketing emails or messages, only if you have asked us to or opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time. Legal basis: consent.

Some of our products relate to wellness. We treat everything about your orders as confidential and use it only to fulfil your order and meet our legal duties. We do not use it for advertising.

Who we share your information with

We only share what is needed, with trusted providers who act on our behalf:

  • Payment providers: Stripe, Apple Pay, Klarna and Clearpay, to take and secure payments.
  • Delivery companies: such as Royal Mail and couriers, who need your name, address and sometimes your phone number or email to deliver.
  • Website and shop services: our hosting provider and the WordPress and WooCommerce software that runs our shop, including shipping and tax tools.
  • Advertising and analytics providers: such as Snapchat and Reddit, only if you accept advertising cookies on our website.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it, for example our accountants or HMRC.

We never sell your personal information. Some providers are based outside the UK (for example in the USA). Where that happens we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Necessary cookies keep your basket and checkout working and are always on. Functional, analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings on our website, or through your browser settings. The app does not use cookies.

How long we keep your information

  • Order and payment records: 6 years, to meet tax and accounting rules.
  • Account details: until you ask us to delete your account.
  • Messages and support emails: up to 2 years after we last spoke.
  • Marketing details: until you unsubscribe.
  • Cookie data: as shown in the cookie banner.

Keeping your information safe

Our website and app use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never stored by us. Access to customer data is limited to those who need it. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password if you create an account.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, where we have no legal reason to keep it;

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would always appreciate the chance to fix things first.
